Peridot is a French word which means gold, which is given in reference to the presence of golden hues in the stone. This gemstone carries a strong history that goes back to 1500 BC. During the ancient period, people used to carry Peridot as a carved amulet. It is also the national gem of Egypt and symbolized as “the gem of the sun.” The stone was first mined in St. Johns Island more than 3,500 years ago. Its yellowish green color is believed to contribute in aiding many illnesses like ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, detoxification, kidney issues, etc.
The green color of the Peridot shows the presence of iron; the stronger the shade, more is the presence of iron.
